Partnering program
UAH won a nine-month contract with AL Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to develop and launch an on-the-job training program in heavy highway construction.
This ALDOT initiative aligned with their larger goals of bringing more veterans, women, and minorities into the transportation industry and improving the labor supply in an industry straining to meet demands. We partnered with a local community college to deliver portions of the training.
My contributions:
Developed a communication plan for web, social, and media.
Built project schedule in Excel with task assignments.
Collaborated on training program timeline and milestone markers for credentialing (OSHA, Flagger, NCCER Core, Rigging, NCCER Heavy Highway certifications).
Authored press release that generated coverage on local television news and print media.
Set up and maintained Google Sites website as an information hub to potential and enrolled students.
Managed virtually all documentation and communication materials, including first-day welcome packs, curriculum, course schedule, study materials, attendance & performance policy, and practice quizzes.
Created shareable Google Sheets file to track enrollment, student progress, attendance, mileage payouts, and credential information.
Supported enrollees by creating resumes, cover letters, and recommendation letters.
Presented application process and job search strategy instruction.
